TOYMAKER

This workshop invited participants of all ages to come along to design and build their own vintage style ‘Dexterity Toy’ using readily available, inexpensive household materials.

Children need LOTS of play in order to learn but in today’s society this important freedom is often overlooked or underemphasised. We live in a consumer based world, constantly buying and throwing away.

In this activity participants made classic toy designs by hand, to take home and provide many hours of fun play. A mind needs to relax in order to be creative and innovative, so what better way to spend an afternoon?

This workshop gave a welcome opportunity for kids to explore, learn and make something with their hands. It underlined the notion that people can literally make their own fun and that traditional activities still have a place in a busy modern life.
