VIEWPOINT
I had the privilege of being Lead Artist for The Big Draw at Festival 2014 during The Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where I got to devise and facilitate free drawing workshops for the public every day for two weeks. Each of the projects changed daily and were to tie in with themes of the Commonwealth, Glasgow and the Games' theme of 'Home'. We saw close to 20,000 people over the course of the two weeks, each of whom took part in an activity.
During this workshop, participants were asked to 'draw Glasgow' from their viewpoint, perception and experiences, upon a huge paper floor and also onto the walls using electrical tape as their line. They considered personal landmarks, journeys and memories made throughout Glasgow during The Games.
For the remainder of the fortnight, the electrical tape produced a beautiful stained glass effect upon the floor and the activities which followed.
