CUPPA OBSCURA
If you can make a cuppa, you can make a camera…
This hands-on public art workshop celebrated Glasgow’s history in the tea trade and provided participants with the chance to make their own individual camera obscura from a tea box.
The tea trade revolutionised Glasgow’s economy in the late 1800s with pioneers such as Sir Thomas Lipton establishing supply lines from India.
In this workshop participants used Indian lenses and tea packaging from Scotland to make and personalise devices that encouraged pause and reflection – just like a good cup of tea!
Sainsbury’s kindly donated five hundred Fair Trade tea boxes to support our workshop. We appreciated their help in encouraging people to reuse ‘single use’ packaging in fun & inventive ways.
